Ars Terra Journal - January 2010

It's been an amazing rainy season! It's Winter here, and yesterday we got a slight powdering of snow!
Above, hungry birds are feeding over the mulched area where we'll be adding bamboo in the Spring.

Here are some photos from January during a lovely misty morning...

Everything is dormant and mulched...
The tree basins are filled with rainwater, and young Kale is still King, even in the frost... Calendulas also don't seem to mind the cold, blooming all Winter long...

While things are cold and dormant, a broken barrel is made a into pond in the front garden with some extra PVC pond liner... While the biology slowly grows, I will be adding fish in the Spring...

The back pond is full of fish throughout the Winter, and each year a new layer naturally adds to the firmament. The goldfish are growing - snacking on algae and organisms.
