What a strange Summer... It's Fall now, almost October, and over 100º outside. We've had a tough time these last few months! June stayed gloomy and in the 60s, going down to below 40 at night - a hard time to get the new veggies to take well. THEN, July was over 110º nearly every day - at some points up to 116º, and the young trees and all plants took a beating. August showed some relief, but then ended with the glow of fires and raining ash...
Here are some photos from August...

We had a giant grape harvest this year. As they came to term, the bees took over...

The Fires... It was a scary time for a couple weeks. Though we weren't too close, the air quality was very bad... The winds blew the ash and smoke over us every afternoon, then away throughout the night...

The garden is growing strong still... All of our asparagus have taken very well, though it won't be until Spring 2011 before we can begin to harvest.
