Imagine... seeing Chickens, once crammed into cruel battery cages, now scratching and pecking through beautiful organic gardens; rescued Turkeys wandering through winding pathways and cob barns, and Pigs, born in gestation crates on concrete floors, napping in a shallow pond under the shade of fruit trees; Cows and Sheep browsing through fields of grasses, clover and wildflower... and all of this in a place once occupied by dry, barren desert.

How is this possible? Through the positive, solutions-oriented holistic design science of Permaculture.

Ars Terra is planning an innovative Non-Profit Eco-Animal Sanctuary, the mission and focus of which is to educate the public about Whole Living; the path of living in complete harmony with our environment and all living creatures.

Our goal is to create a new kind of sanctuary, one where our rescued animals will be given the most natural surroundings and food possible. Because living models provide the most convincing testimony, our goals are:

• Providing beautiful habitat, natural food and proper care for animals rescued from the horror of the factory farm
• Extensive organic gardens - producing the vast majority of our own food and fibre right on site for our animals
• Alternative building techniques and materials - for our barns (such as cob, strawbale and earthbag)
• Off-grid power from wind and solar
• Natural water cycling
• Teaching all these techniques to the public through an eye-opening and soul-stirring course and workshop schedule designed to bring sustainable and regenerative concepts into real world application.
